Die in Dublin geborene Bratschistin wohnt seit 2008 in Deutschland.

Sie hat in Rostock, Leipzig und Weimar studiert und zuletzt 2023 ihr Konzertexamen mit einstimmiger Auszeichnung abgeschlossen.

2018 wurde sie Solo Bratschistin der Staatskapelle Weimar und Lehrbeauftragte am Musikgymnasium Belvedere und seit 2022 an der HMT Leipzig.

Leidenschaftliche Interpretin Neuer Musik und ist seit 2015 Gründungsmitglied von ensemble reflektor – dem norddeutschen Kammerorchester, das für Musikkultur ohne Grenzen steht.

Mitwirkung als Stimmführerin mit dem Gewandhaus Orchester zu Leipzig, Münchener Kammerorchester, MDR Sinfonieorchester, Wexford Festival Opera und dem Orchester im Treppenhaus. Seit 2023 Gast beim Mahler Chamber Orchester.

William Walton’s Concerto for Viola and Orchestra, premiered in London in 1929 by Paul Hindemith under the direction of the composer, is not the first of its genre, but it is one of the few to have entered the repertoire.

The concerto seems to embody a special authenticity through its emotional alternation of an elegiac basic tenor and a playful, communicative drive. As if taken from life, Walton combines lyrical elements from the late romantic sound tradition with loose echoes of dance music and Gershwin. However, the work ends excitingly, ‘con dolore’ and ambivalently: between major and minor.

Irish Violist and composer Neasa Ní Bhriain is an internationally renowned musician based between Dublin, Leipzig & Dresden with a focus on open dialogue between the arts and interdisciplinary and socially relevant work.

She is Professor for Viola at the Hochschule für Musik Dresden. As a chamber music performer she has performed with the likes of Aurelia Visovan, Can Cakmur, Markus Rom, Moritz Kolb, Moritz Ter-Nedden, Friedrich Thiele, Albert Karch, Mairéad Hickey und Alexey Stadler and has received artistic guidance from Nobuko Imai, Tatjana Masurenko, Garth Knox, Menahem Pressler, Yuri Bashmet, Eberhard Feltz, Oliver Wille und Wilfried Strehle etc. Neasa has benefited from residencies in the Heinrich Böll Haus in Achill and at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre allowing her to work and write in an intensive atmosphere She has performed as soloist and chamber musician at Festivals such as PODIUM Esslingen, Leipziger Jazztage, Jazzwerkstatt Bern, UltraBach, The Gathering (NCH, Dublin), Beethovenfest Bonn, Detect Classic, Hitzacker Festival, & Mecklenburger Festspiele.

She’s a founder member of “FOKUS Forum für künstlerische Umsetzung e.V.” (Forum for artistic engagement), an association which provides a forum for dialogue and networking in the freelance scene in Leipzig and aims at connecting and exchanging ideas with similar organisations on an international level.
